History of Agência Abreu (1840-2010)

This Project aims at describing the history of Agência Abreu, one of the oldest travel agencies in the world, in order to establish the origins of the above mentioned company within the context of the Portuguese emigration to Brazil and make a comprehensive collection of relevant documents on the activity of Agência Abreu, in all its different perspectives.

The Project, funded by Agência Abreu, aims at describing the history of the oldest travel agency in Portugal. With this work we intend to study the origins of this enterprise, making a comprehensive collection of relevant documents on the activity of Agência Abreu, in all its scopes. Based on this and other elements it will be written the history of Agência Abreu, within the context of the history of the Portuguese emigration to Brazil, and also the development of leisure tourism and business travels. The work resulting from this project will be one of the main highlights of the celebration of the 170^th anniversary of the Company.
