The Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), an international organization that was born a little over 25 years ago, is today a reference for all Portuguese-speaking countries, and also within the broader scope of other international organizations – with emphasis on the United Nations. The contributions gathered in this issue analyze and interrogate the CPLP's potential and limits regarding the promotion and defense of human rights, underlining the social and political realities and contexts of its implementation in the Member States, through original contributions and case studies on the issue of gender equality, the rights of the child, the rights of ethnic-racial minorities or people with disabilities. Some of the challenges currently facing the CPLP are also addressed, namely with the accession of Equatorial Guinea.

In the Varia section, three articles are also included. The first deals with the securitization of the migratory phenomenon in Portugal, the following presents a diachronic view of pandemic outbreaks, and, finally, the last promotes a reflection on the theory and practice of international negotiation.
