The Presidents of the Portuguese Parliament (1821-2015)

This project had as main objective the biographical study of the individuals who presided over the various chambers of the Portuguese Parliament, from the institutionalization of the parliamentary regime in Portugal in 1821 to the present day.

In order to better understand the political class of Contemporary Portugal, other aspects were also included, such as the political situation in which the election/nomination of each President took place; the national issues that had repercussions in the Parliament during each one’s term; and the publication of their main interventions and other texts that help characterize their civic and political profile. The project resulted in the edition of five volumes, published by the Assembly of the Republic within its Parlamento Collection.
