This Project aims at presenting the history of the several buildings which served as Town Hall for the city of Porto since the establishment of Liberalism, the reasons that explain their construction and location, and their architectural and artistic characterization.

This Project was the result of an agreement between CEPESE and Porto’s City Council and aimed at presenting the history of the several buildings which served as Town Hall for the city’s municipal government, since the establishment of Liberalism in Portugal, in 1820, up to present time, the reasons that explain their construction and location, their architectural and artistic characterization, and the analysis of the historical events that had Porto Town Halls as a privileged stage.
