The Civil Governors of Bragança (1835-2011)

This Project aims at reviewing, completing and significantly increasing the biographies of the Civil Governors of the District of Bragança since its creation in 1835 to its extinction in 2011.

It also seeks to apprehend the action of these magistrates at the head of the District of Bragança as representatives of the Portuguese Government and to trace the evolution of their functions, according to the normative framework in force. The evolution of Portuguese districts in general and the district of Bragança in particular will also be studied.
