The eventful history of Portugal and its culture is a topic of interest not just for historians of the Iberian Peninsula but also for those from a number of foreign countries, including Germany. Until recently, a comprehensive overview of the history of Portugal was not available. However, two German professors of the University Erlangen- Nuremberg have taken an impressive stab at it – and they have done so in a clearly organized fashion.
