Research Projects
Within the scope of its activity, and with the aim of increasing the knowledge in areas insufficiently studied in the area of Social Sciences, CEPESE has been developing several research projects, many of them with an international scope. Among the financing entities, in addition to the FCT – either through direct financing or through multi-annual financing – other institutions are also relevant, both public and private, such as the European Science Foundation, Municipalities, the Assembly of the Republic, Ministries, Foundations and Entreprises.
Século XXI – Uma Nova Era Energética? Energia e Ambiente como Vectores de Transformação das Relações Internacionais no Século XXI
Este Projecto pretende caracterizar possíveis evoluções da envolvente geoeconómica e geopolítica nas regiões fornecedoras de petróleo e gás natural a Portugal - avaliar questões de segurança de abastecimento - e proceder a um exercício de cenarização sobre possíveis estratégias de segurança energética nacional.
Artistas e Artífices no Mundo de Expressão Portuguesa (séculos XVI a XIX)
Na sequência do Projecto "Artistas e Artífices do Norte de Portugal (séculos XII-XX)", apoiado pela FCT, este novo Projecto propõe-se alargar o âmbito geográfico, passando a abarcar não só outras regiões de Portugal, mas incluir também o Brasil e outros Estados da América Latina.
Political and Economic Relations of Portugal with Russia (1779-1834)
This project aims at studying the political, diplomatic and economic relations of Portugal with Russia since the beginning of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Russia until the definite establishment of Liberalism in Portugal (1779-1834).
Hispanic Medieval Nobility: 8th to 16th centuries
This Project aims at compiling a database that allows ascertaining the relations between Northern Portugal and Galicia from the respective nobility groups, during the Middle Ages (8th to 16th centuries).
Commendation of Military Orders: National Profile and International Integration
The aim of this Project, which is funded by the FCT, is to study the Commendations of Noudar, the Order of Avis, the Order of Vera Cruz de Marmelar, the Order of Hospital, both in the Portuguese and international contexts, highlighting its conception of border and projection in different political spaces.
Cuius Regio. An analysis of the cohesive and disruptive forces destining the attachment of groups of persons to and the cohesion within regions as a historical phenomenon [CURE]
The Cuius Regio project aims at presenting an historical analysis of a group of seven European regions, in order to establish a comparison of the disruptive and cohesive dynamics.
The Mayors of Vila Nova de Gaia (1834-2019)
This project produced biographies of the individuals who, over almost two centuries, from the re-foundation of the municipality in 1834 to the present day, led the executive branch of Vila Nova de Gaia, focusing on the activities carried out during their respective mandates. Simultaneously, the project included a study on the origins and evolution of the Municipality of Gaia, the legal framework of the Municipality of Gaia and its mayors, the method of acquisition and duration of their respective mandates, and the individual and collective characterization of these personalities.
Portuguese society and ageing diseases: the Alzheimer Project
The aim of this project is to contribute to the development of a National Alzheimer Plan that still does not exist in Portugal, which requires carrying out scientific research in the context of the Portuguese society.
Ageing and Health in Portugal. Policies and practices
The project Ageing and Health in Portugal. Policies and Practices aims at measuring the relationships between the health status of the Portuguese population and the expected increase of education levels over the next decades, assessing the range and implications of this co-relationship, through the combination of demographic and econometric analysis techniques that allow a systemic view of this phenomenon, in order to support the decision making process within the scope of the health public policies.
LANDYN – Changes of Land Use and Occupation in Mainland Portugal: Characterization, driving Forces and Future Scenarios
This project aims at providing an accurate image of the changes regarding land use and occupation - to identify and understand the main forces driving these changes and to build the main scenarios for those changes until 2040.
AZULEJAR – Conservation of Tiles on Façades
This Project aims at characterizing façade elements in several buildings in need of conservation actions involving their historical context, taking into consideration the production methods, their composition and the factors for the degradation of tiles.
SIHER - Processes of Sedimentary Infilling and Holocene Evolution of the Ria Formosa Lagoon System
This Project, developed by the University of Algarve with the participation of CEPESE, aims at analysing the physical and geological processes in the Ria Formosa lagoon system resulting from natural climate changes during the transition of the last glacier to interglacial, to which are added effects of anthropic activity.
Redes Sociais Pessoais de Idosos Portugueses
Sob coordenação de Sónia Guadalupe, este Projeto de Investigação teve por objetivo geral descrever e tipificar (criação de tipologias) as redes sociais pessoais dos idosos portugueses quanto às suas características estruturais, funcionais e de satisfação.
Avaliação e Intervenção em Famílias em Risco
Iniciado em 2015, este Projeto de Investigação, coordenado por Joana Sequeira, teve como principais objetivos o estudo do funcionamento familiar em diversas circunstâncias.
Bragança. Das Origens à Revolução Liberal de 1820
Na sequência do Projeto "Bragança na Época Contemporânea (1820-2012)", desenvolvido pelo CEPESE e que esteve na origem de uma obra em dois volumes lançada em 2013, este projeto de investigação teve como objetivo dar continuidade ao estudo e à publicação da história de Bragança, agora desde as suas origens pré-históricas até 1820, de forma rigorosa e crítica, procurando captar a evolução da cidade no contexto nacional e ibérico.
Processos de Aquisição, Alteração ou Extinção de Personalidade Jurídica de Associações
Este Projeto, de âmbito arquivístico e documental, concluído em 2018, procedeu à descrição detalhada dos “Processos de aquisição, alteração ou extinção de personalidade jurídica de associações”, uma série documental proveniente dos extintos Governos Civis, atualmente sob a tutela da Secretaria Geral do Ministério da Administração Interna.
Tratamento Arquivístico do Acervo Documental da Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto
Consciente da importância do valor do espólio documental da Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto (SCMP), o CEPESE procedeu ao tratamento e à inventariação dos fundos documentais acumulados, há larguíssimas décadas, em instituições pertencentes à SCMP.
Digitalização dos Livros de Atas de Vereação da Câmara Municipal da Guarda
Constituindo-se como uma prioridade para o Município da Guarda, este Projeto de Investigação visou, fundamentalmente, a preservação digital da referida série documental.
