Ageing and Health in Portugal. Policies and practices

The project Ageing and Health in Portugal. Policies and Practices aims at measuring the relationships between the health status of the Portuguese population and the expected increase of education levels over the next decades, assessing the range and implications of this co-relationship, through the combination of demographic and econometric analysis techniques that allow a systemic view of this phenomenon, in order to support the decision making process within the scope of the health public policies.

The project Ageing and Health in Portugal. Policies and Practices aims at measuring the relationships between the health status of the Portuguese population and the expected increase of education levels over the next decades.

This Project aims at analysing, in the context of the ageing process, the problem of the relationship between the health status and the expected education levels of the Portuguese population. It is our aim to measure the range and implications of this co-relationship in the Portuguese case, combining theoretical assumptions with demographic and econometric techniques that allow a multidisciplinary view on the possible impacts of ageing on society over the next decades. The Project team will present the conclusions of the research and will organize a public debate on its future implication within the scope of social policies and, specifically, those regarding health, since population ageing is currently acknowledged as a global issue.
